Winterlicious event

Visit our ice rink in the heart of the Adelaide Riverbank where you can skate on the banks of the River Torrens.

The ice rink is enclosed to protect you from the wind and rain so you can enjoy it day and night this winter.

The Riverbank Authority presents Winterlicious at Elder Park for two weeks from Monday, 27 July until Sunday, 9 August.

Our warm and magical winter village is the perfect place for your pre- and après-skate experience!

We’ll have beautiful log fire pits, tipi tents, festoon lights, hot chocolate, mulled wine, delicious toasties, mouth-watering sweets and more. Our European winter menu is brought to you by chef Brad Sappenberghs of Comida Catering Co.

Start your evening during the week. And if you need a break from the rink, the winter village has lots of other games and activities for you.

Here are some frequently asked questions and handy tips to make things easier.

If you can't find the answers you need here, please contact Stars On Ice on 0410 718 310 or

What’s included in my $5 ticket?

Skating tickets include skate rental and a 45-minute session in the ice rink.

Each ticket is good for one individual only and cannot be shared with other people.

Please note that each skater between 2–4 years of age must be accompanied on the ice by a paid responsible skater.

Why should I pre-purchase my tickets online?

Booking online is the fastest way onto the ice! Although you can also buy tickets at the ice rink before your session, sessions can sometimes sell out.

Tickets pre-purchased online also have a dedicated express entry to the skate rental area. Book your tickets here.

If you need assistance with online booking, Stars On Ice will be able to help you out on 0410 718 310 or

I’m not a confident skater — I need help!

For another $5, you can hire a penguin skating aide. There are limited “penguins” available, so book early.

What about young children who want to join in the skating fun too?

The minimum age to enter the ice rink is 2 years old. Each child skater between 2–4 years of age must be accompanied on the ice by a paid responsible skater.

Ice skates shoes start at a junior size 12.

Kids with smaller feet (from size 2) can use clip-on, double runner skates. Kids who are using clip-on skates should wear sneakers or trainers.

Will I need to bring my own skates?

No, skate rental is included with each skating ticket.

You may bring your own skates if you prefer, but full admission costs still apply.

What should I wear?

Wear thick socks to protect your feet, especially if you’re not used to skates.

Winterlicious is all about getting into the winter mood, so layers are a good idea too — a beanie or hat, hooded jacket or top, scarf and gloves.

What do I do once I’ve got my ticket?

Don’t be late! Get to the skate fitting area 10 minutes before your session start time, so you can get fitted with your rental skates.

Do I have to buy a ticket to enter the winter village?

Winterlicious is for everyone! Tickets are only required for using the ice rink.

If skating’s not your thing, you can still come and hang out with friends and family. There will be food and drinks for sale by vendors, plus some free games for the kids.

Where is Winterlicious?

Winterlicious is in Elder Park, King William Street, Adelaide in the Adelaide Riverbank. Find Elder Park with Google Maps.

Are there public toilet facilities available?

Public toilets are available right next door to the Elder Park Café.

What other tips would be great for me to know about?

You will be skating on real ice, so it may become wet at times. You may want to consider bringing a change of clothes, in case you glide or slide across the ice.

Remind kids to try and keep their fingers tucked into a fist quickly if they fall over (rather than having their fingers spread on the ice), just in case someone skates too close.

Ice skating is to be fun for all, so the sessions are controlled in regards to skater speed.
