A summer oasis in the heart of the Adelaide Riverbank
Renewal SA is calling for creative proponents to bring the temporary urban beach to life and showcase one of Adelaide’s iconic public spaces as a focal point of urban culture and entertainment, for all South Australians to enjoy.
The new urban beach demonstration will entice guests to enjoy fresh summer food and sink into deckchairs, while watching the sun disappear behind the River Torrens panoramic views.
During the day, the urban beach will cater for children and adults through a program for all ages and activities that will showcase the Adelaide Riverbank as a world-class destination.
There will be sandcastle building competitions, beach volleyball, cricket and soccer, onshore kid friendly water playzone, as well as water based activities such as zorbing, kayaking and paddle boats.
When the sun goes down the urban beach will be transformed into a fun, and relaxed space with live performances, bars and local food stalls for all to enjoy.
The Urban Beach demonstration project will make the River Torrens more accessible to the tens of thousands of people enjoying summertime pursuits and embracing the natural appeals of the Adelaide Riverbank backdrop.
